Introduction

Here Be Dragons is looking for a creative leader. Someone who can join a growing team of cross-discipline people on a mission to make brave work. We’re laying down plans for our next chapter of growth, so we are looking for a senior player to come in and help shape what that looks like creatively.

About Us

Here Be Dragons is a creative communications agency. While focussed on the discipline of PR, we believe in a modern definition of this term, focussing on creating bold work that drives conversation and WOM across earned media and social. To do that we use a broad range of disciplines which form the base of our service offering to clients, split across two sides of the business.

Our work is very varied and can encompass a product launch one day, a media event the next, or any level of stunt or brand activation. We work across many verticals - film, music, technology, telecoms, entertainment, food & beverage, so no two days are the same.

We work hard but we like to enjoy life, so work life balance is pretty important to us. We also like to spend time together, so regularly organise cultural days out, team training sessions and after work drinks.

The Role

We’re looking for a creative leader to help shape our Studio offering. While Studio and Agency teams work hand in hand, our Studio is our Creative Dept which has already produced us award-winning work. However, we are looking to further build this out in order to help us do two things:

  • Help us transition into more of a creative agency, with an entrepreneurial mindset, while building a creative culture
  • Help make our work better - more creative, more effective, more integrated, more impactful

Specifics:

  • Ability to build and nurture a department, mentor our existing valuable talent and helping recruiting new talent as and when appropriate
  • Help lead new business pitches in tandem with CEO & CSO 
  • Lead creative process on new & existing clients
  • Introduce new ways of working and processes to the Studio / rest of agency based on a contemporary approach to PR & Communications
  • Be senior counsel to clients on creative problem solving
  • Bring a networked/ nimble/ cost effective approach to working with partners that works for a smaller agency
  • Inspire a ‘creativity at any cost’ approach to work

  • Someone to take the creative reigns
  • Help build the creative department - process, resource, tools, partner network, service providers, artists, makers, film makers, dreamers etc
  • Someone who can sell 
  • Someone who understands PR, earned media and social and how ideas can travel, and how paid can work as part of that mix
  • Someone who can develop new biz leads / opps through network
  • Culture junkie - 'i spotted this and..'
  • Has great taste / cultural references that resonate
  • Someone who knows what works to drive WOM - social and earned media
  • Someone who has a good black book of contacts
  • Has excellent eye for production - nothing leaves the door without being best it can be
  • Someone who leads the creative process from start to finish, coming up with bold ideas but also executing them with excellence / high class production
  • Someone who knows a network of media partners for ATL / (D)OOH / digital media
  • Someone who has the hunger to achieve awards and make great work
  • Someone who gets their hands dirty and will happily pull together a deck, doesn't mind actually doing some work, not just reviewing, ECD-style.

Location

We are based in Shoreditch, East London, where we have revamped an old art gallery into a new, multifaceted and modular studio space. We’d love you to be able to work from there, but we are also operating a hybrid working model, so a combination of physical and remote working is preferred.
